Salvatore Dominelli

Born in 1954 in Serra San Bruno, Calabria, in 1971 he exhibited for the first time - at the Museo Archeologico in Vibo Valentia.
In 1972 he moved to Rome to study at the Accademia di Belle Arti (where he now teaches). He began exhibiting professionally during the 1970s, and in 1978 he enrolled as a student at the faculty of Architecture but left halfway through the course, having decided to dedicate himself entirely to painting.
In 1985 he was invited to take part in 'Futura: una nuovissima generazione dell'arte italiana' at the Fortezza Medicea in Sienna, and throughout the second half of the 1980s he exhibited all over Italy. He participated in the XLII Premio Michetti and the following year held his first show abroad, a solo exhibition in San Francisco.
His work has been shown in Germany, Austria, England, Holland, Denmark, Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, Spain, Malta, South Africa and Slovenia. 'Artisti italiani e finlandesi', a group show at the Vernissa gallery in Vantaa, saw the start of a series of collaborations with a group of Finnish artists, involving exhibitions in Italy, Finland and Estonia.
Exhibitions in which he has participated have included the 12th edition of the Esposizione Nazionale Quadriennale d'Arte in Rome and the 54th edition of the Venice Biennale.
